May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Of course we should be mindful all the time, but May brings us a chance to educate others on mental illness. Let’s help each other be advocates and give everyone who is living with a mental illness the respect they deserve.63ed8f2c2b4305c9b772ddc092562340

Creative Genius & Mental Illness

Ever since I was a young child, I've shown a great interest in being creative and writing things like stories and poetry. As I got older and fell further into my diagnosis, I relied on my creative mind to carry me through every day living. As time goes by, I find the scientific link between mental illness and creativity quite fascinating. Here is a link to a Swedish study connecting the two.

What do you think of these findings?

Greetings!

I decided to start this blog because I know there are many of you out there who are just as crazy as I am, or just as concerned about mental health issues as I am. I am an advocate for Bipolar Disorder support and awareness. I have Bipolar Disorder Type 1 and have been through a lot, so I decided it's time to express it. I also have a degree in mental health so these issues are important to me. I am also a lesbian, married to a wonderful woman. LGBT issues and rights are also in my advocacy docket. I'm eccentric & I like to have fun, so I thank you for tuning into my new blog.
